What they didn't grasp was, use standard installer technology and a decent delivery system will be happy to use those files.

A year well spent! Adobe asked what tools were being used by enterprises to install software and no doubt Casper was mentioned. They took a lot of flack from other beta testers about what they had provided.Īfter a year of saying things will get better, running the blog, asking all the right questions they gave us an application that then gives us a file that ends. This type of scenario was explained to Adobe during the beta.

The reason I do it is because we get a call to install After Effects on a certain machine for short periods of time and Adobe's very odd serial number database made it hard to roll out over a "real" suite. I don't disagree with what the auditors are saying, but I was on the beta for AAMEE and I explained that I install the suites via Master Collection and no one from Adobe said a word. I have NOT tried this issue with CS5, yet. If you had the Master Collection key in there everything worked, and you could install other portions later without that issue. Same with design premium with web standard later to get Contribute.

The license database would do something that stopped what was just in Design premium to no longer work. I wanted design premium and then install production premium. We had to do the master collection installer/key route in many cases because if we wanted to install different suite portions the license database would flip out. It’s easy enough to change out if I need to use the actual design premium installer and key. The only thing there is the key I used in the licensing database and the installer logs that reference Master Collection. As long as the actual applications not licensed themselves are not loaded on the systems, the remaining Master Collection apps not in Design Premium, there is also no issue. If their own auditors can’t figure things out then I don’t really feel it’s a valid audit.Īs long as Key Server says this number of Application X are open and I tell Key Server we have X number of this Suite and these Point products to cover those instances, there isn’t an issue. If someone from Adobe is on this list they can come talk to me about it then. Adobe doesn't see that as a problem, but many others disagree.ĭon’t really care. via NetBoot, installing to a volume it's not booted from). It also can't install as part of the imaging process (i.e. Just be aware that AAMEE can't currently install if no user is logged into the system (classified as a bug by Adobe, and why the Mac AAMEE is labeled as "pre-release"). I expect we'll hear more from JAMF at some point in the near future about CS5, but it can be done. I subsequently overrode the policy defaults (I usually use http for distribution, since I have clients all over the Internet) to force an AFP connection for this deployment - and that worked successfully. stating that the customer needed to output a CS5 document ASAP - did this all remotely in a couple of hours, but I had exposure to the AAMEE betas since January). The InCopy plugins were corrupt (larger than they should have been) - simply copying them from a "good" install worked around the issue temporarily (I got a phone call at 10 p.m. pkg into Casper and created a a Self Service policy for deployment. pkg installed fine via ARD but one portion of the install (relating to InCopy plugins for InDesign CS5) did not install correctly when I copied the.

It's not really a true package - the payload is compressed and encapsulated into one of the package scripts (and this leads to requiring lots of free disk space, like 3x-4x package size, as things are copied/moved around during the install). On Jul 6, 2010, at 12:45 PM, Kenneth Edgar wrote: I used the Adobe Application Manager, Enterprise Edition (AAMEE) to "convert" the Adobe volume license install media into a pseudo-pkg.
